Neighbours are frustrated with the length of time it takes to complete a build taking more than 2 years and it’s still not completed. What can council do about it?

    MCDONALDS SIGN POLE
The new McDonalds store in Jolimont has a new monster size sign out the front. The community are outraged about it. The DAP approved the plans but did not consider the height of the sign, and have no powers to overturn its decision.

    SUBIACO LANDLORDS
I am one of the unlucky business owners to have Landlords that are not concerned if I have to close my business and lose everything, without even a honest conversation between ourselves.
They are more than happy have an empty shop with Tax benefits for their Company.

I really don’t know what can be done to approach these Landlords, but quite a few business’s near my store are facing the same issue.

I think Subiaco is so beautiful, but with empty shops it is the main issue for people to stop coming to Subi.
Ghost Town..is what I am hearing from many visitors. Thank god for the Regal Theatre.
If we could attract more retailers and restaurants that would keep our Residents shopping here and bring New People to Subi.
But that brings us back to the Landlords..!

    EMPTY SHOPS ON ROKEBY
I would consider a mini trade show aimed at new business. A council/business leadership group led approach. Collect relevant info, investigate opportunities and sell subi to the general market. This should include a dialogue aimed at landlords and retailers.

On our doorstep all major big box retailers are doing this 24/7. Actively pursing new business. In my view we need to compete and get in the game.

Imagine a boutique trade show where potential new businesses could connect with opportunity. Short term leasing opportunities and flexible start up spaces are hot property. If we could secure a good location it could be a semi permanent thing.

We have had a number of pop up shops activate up our end of Rokeby [Paris end], all high end retailers..fashion/furniture and art.

    Food for thought.
